Map Hunter II Competition Instructions

How it works

Each week of the Map Hunter II competition, the @Soar_Earth account on X will post 3 screenshots from maps that are available on Soar. The goal is to use each of these screenshot to identify the map that it is originally from to be in the running to win.
The Map Hunter II Competition starts at 9:00 pm 17 February 2025 (AWST / GMT+8) and runs over 8 weeks until 8:59:59 PM 7 April 2025.  This means you have 24 opportunities to explore and discover maps on Soar and earn Map Hunter Points to have a chance of winning a cash prize!
Each Map discovered will be worth 1 to 3 Map Hunter Points based on difficulty and this will be noted in the Map Hunter II competition post. The first person to find the map gets all the Map Hunter Points for that map.
We will be posting a leaderboard listing the Soar users and the Map Hunter Points they have scored in the competition. The Winner will be the person with the most points at the end of the 8 weeks of competition.
Winners will be eligible for the following prizes:
  • 1st prize AUD $2,500
  • 2nd prize AUD $1,000
  • 3rd prize AUD $500

How to win

To enter the competition, all you need to do is:
  • Starting 17 February 2025 we will be posting a map screenshot 3 times per week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) on the @Soar_Earth on X
  • Make sure you have a registered account on Soar and an active PayPal account.
  • Visit the Soar website and search to find the map that includes the screenshot we have posted.
  • Make a copy of the screenshot and copy the name of the map and the URL link to the map the screenshot comes from.
  • On the competition thread on X for that map, make a reply post including:
  • your screenshot,
  • the name of the map
  • its Soar URL and
  • your Soar Username
  • If you are the first person to correctly identify the map you win the Map Hunter Points for that map.
As soon as the first correct answer is posted to the @Soar_Earth channel on X, that person wins the Map Hunter Points for that map.
At the end of the competition, the person who scores the most Map Hunter Points after the 8 week run wins the competition and the title of Map Hunter (along with a Cash Prize as well). Prizes will be available for 2 Runners Up who will also be awarded a Cash Prize.

Important things to note

  • The first person to post the correct answer wins, once the answer is posted, no other entries regarding that map will be considered valid.
  • There is only a single winner for each map found.
  • Maps to find are posted every other week day Monday, Wednesday and Friday although posting times may vary.
  • If a map is not found before the next map is posted, it remains available to find and claim the Map Hunter Points for that map. For example, if the first ever map posted is not found before the next is posted, the points for that map are able to be claimed right up to the final week.
  • The competition is governed by the Map Hunter II Terms which can be found here.
  • Contestants can only claim winnings once the entire competition is over.
  • At the end of the competition, if 2 entrants have the same Map Hunter Points total, the prize amount will be split between them using that prize level and the next prize level down e.g. if 2nd and 3rd place both have 10 Map Hunter Points, they each get $750.
