Map Hunter Competition Instructions

How it works

Each week of the Map Hunter competition, the @Soar_Earth account on X will post a small clip from a map that is available on Soar. The goal is to use the image and clues that we provide each day to identify the map the clipped image is originally from.

Wow!! It looks like we have been making things too easy for the winners so far. Congrats to the winners of the first 4 rounds and how quickly they have gotten the prize!

Because it's been so easy,  we have decided to step up the difficulty and use some harder to find maps and an extra requirement to address the confusion some users have given us feedback on.

The Map Hunter Competition starts at 9:00 pm on 1 March 2024 and runs for 8 rounds over 8 weeks, with a new round starting every Saturday at 1:00 am GMT +8.
Keep an eye out for the daily clues if no one has won the prize to increase your chance of winning.

Be the first person to correctly identify the map, share a screenshot from Soar (with requirements noted) and the map link to the weekly competition post on our our X account and you can win AUD $100. Any unclaimed prizes for any round will jackpot to the next round.

How to win

To enter the competition, all you need to do is:
  • Each week, starting 1 March 2024, check for daily clues by visiting @Soar_Earth on X.
  • Search on the Soar website and find the exact map location of the screenshot which Soar has posted on X
  • Users can do one or both of the following in-order to make a claim for the prize:
    a. Make a screenshot inside of the Soar website of the exact map area;
    OR
    b. Copy and paste the exact URL location of the exact map area from the Soar website.
  • Post your submission in the weekly competition thread on X.
  • Only the FIRST person to correctly identify the exact map location on Soar will win the cash prize for the round.
As soon as the first correct answer is posted to the @Soar_Earth account, the round is closed until the next round opens on the following Friday at 9:00 pm.

Important things to note

  • The first person to post the correct answer wins, once the answer is posted, the round is ended and no other entries will be considered valid.
  • The link for the correct map must be posted on the current round's Map Hunter Competition thread, that is, a winning entry must be:
    a. Posting as a direct reply to the main post;
    b. As indirect reply such as another user's post post under that thread;
    c. Include a screenshot of the clip (as similar as possible to the original clue image)
  • Posts which may have the correct answer but are posted to a different thread such as:
    a. Another Map Hunter thread; 
    b. Previous Map Hunter rounds; or
    c. Other Soar threads
    are deemed ineligible and cannot collect the prize.
  • There is only a single winner for each round.
  • Prizes that are not claimed or if no correct answers are provided, the cash prize will jackpot to the next round.
  • Clues will be posted daily at 1:00 am GMT+8 until a winner is announced.
